Automatically log out users who are idle
In this article:
Overview
If you have team members in your Little Green Light account who use LGL on a non-private computer, or you just want to be extra-cautious, you have the option to force a logout of users when they have been idle (not actively using the application) for these specific periods of time:
- 15 minutes
- 30 minutes
- 45 minutes
- 1 hour
NOTE: One of the options included among the above is “No limit”, which is set by default, for those who prefer not to use the feature.
This feature helps enhance the security of your LGL account and the data in it because users are required to log in regularly, rather than allowing their account to sit idle and open, which may give another person a chance to access and use it if the user has stepped away, for example. This is the same type of security measure that banks and other financial institutions use to help protect customer data.
How auto logout works
To use this feature, you must have the Administrator role assigned to your user/team member profile.
This is an account-wide setting, so when applied it will affect every user/team member in the account, no matter what their other security preferences are.
To apply the setting, navigate to Settings > Subscription settings > General and scroll down to the Security Settings section. In the Auto Logout area, select the auto logout timeframe you want to apply to all users/team members who may log into and use the account.
How does auto logout work if you have multiple LGL accounts?
Auto logout affects only the account with the setting enabled.
For example, if you have two LGL accounts open, one with auto logout set and the other without, the account that does not have an auto logout selection set will still have an active session after the one that does have a selection set has logged out. In other words, for every account you want to use auto logout in, an auto logout selection will need to be set up.
